Ingredients

  • 2 cupschocolate cake crumbs or graham cracker crumbs (for crust base)
  • ½ cupbutter (melted)
  • 8 ozcream cheese (softened)
  • 1 cuppowdered sugar (sifted)
  • 8 ozwhipped topping (half of total, for cream layer)
  • 2 boxesinstant chocolate pudding mix (standard 3.9 oz boxes)
  • 3 cupsmilk (cold)
  • 1 tspvanilla extract (optional)
  • 8 ozwhipped topping (remaining half, for top layer)
  • ¼ cuppecans (chopped for garnish)
  • 2 tbspchocolate shavings (for topping)

Directions

    Make the crust: In a bowl, combine chocolate crumbs and melted butter. Press mixture into the bottom of a 9x13 inch glass baking dish. Set aside.

    Blend the cream layer: In a mixing bowl, beat softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth. Fold in half of the whipped topping.

    Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the crust using a spatula.

    Prepare the pudding: Whisk cold milk with pudding mix and optional vanilla until thickened.
