About this Recipe

Craving the savory, sweet, and slightly spicy flavors of Korean barbecue without the fuss? This Crockpot Korean Barbecue recipe lets you achieve restaurant-quality taste with minimal effort, perfect for busy weeknights.

The magic happens in the slow cooker, transforming humble flank steak into incredibly tender, pull-apart meat. The well-balanced sauce, a rich blend of reduced-sodium soy sauce, aromatic sesame oil, sweet brown sugar, and a hint of heat from crushed red pepper flakes, infuses every fiber of the beef as it slowly braises. This means you get deep, complex flavors with less than 10 minutes of hands-on prep time.

What to Expect

When you lift the lid, you'll be greeted with incredibly tender, succulent flank steak, bathed in a rich, glossy sauce. The combination of garlic powder, diced onion, and beef broth creates a robust base, while the cornstarch ensures the sauce is thick enough to cling beautifully to the meat. Each bite offers a harmonious balance of umami, subtle sweetness, and a pleasant kick of heat, creating a deeply satisfying meal.

Customization & Variations

Feel free to adjust the crushed red pepper flakes to your preferred spice level, from a mild hint to a fiery kick. The recipe already notes that you can use a brown sugar substitute if preferred. For a heartier meal, consider adding optional vegetables like sliced carrots or bell peppers during the last hour of cooking in the slow cooker.

Serving & Context

Serve this Crockpot Korean Barbecue over a bed of fluffy white rice or noodles, perhaps with a side of steamed vegetables, for a complete and satisfying meal. It's an ultimate weeknight hero, delivering impressive flavor with minimal effort.
