Deconstructed Stuffed Peppers

30 min

Deconstructed stuffed peppers provide all the same flavors you love in a traditional stuffed pepper while being much easier (and faster) to make.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup white rice
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1 Tablespoon dried minced onion
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 3/4 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 Tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 15 ounces tomato sauce
  • 2 large bell peppers (seeds removed and chopped into 1/2 inch pieces)

Directions

  1. 1

Cook the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat until meat is cooked through, breaking up with a spoon. Drain fat and return to the pan.

  2. 2

Add the remaining ingredients and stir to combine. Bring the mixture to a boil, and then reduce to a simmer on low. Cover and cook 18-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until peppers are cooked through and rice is tender.

  3. 3

Remove from the heat and allow to sit, covered, for 5 minutes before serving.
