Add the sugar, dry mustard and vinegar and whisk together until smooth and well combined.

Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, whisking constantly.

Lower the heat and simmer, whisking constantly, until the sauce thickens slightly.

Remove the pan from the heat.
