Directions

Step 1: prepare the ribs

  1. 1

Remove the Membrane for Extra Tenderness

  2. 2

Lay the ribs bone-side up and use a paper towel for grip to peel off the thin membrane. Removing this helps the meat absorb seasonings better and creates a more tender bite.

  3. 3

    Season Generously

  4. 4

Rub ribs evenly with AP Seasoning and Lemon Bae Seasoning.

  5. 5

Drizzle liquid smoke over the ribs for an extra layer of smoky goodness.

Step 2: bake low & slow

  1. 1

    Set Up for Success

  2. 2

Place a wire rack on a baking sheet—this ensures even cooking and prevents steaming.

  3. 3

Lay the ribs meat-side up and bake for 2.5 hours uncovered.

Step 3: wrap & tenderize

  1. 1

Remove ribs from oven and wrap tightly in foil with butter, honey, brown sugar, and liquid (juice, beer, or broth).

  2. 2

Return to oven and bake for 90 minutes, letting the ribs steam in flavor.

Step 4: make the bbq sauce

  1. 1

In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.

  2. 2

Stir in brown sugar, ketchup, molasses, honey, and chipotles in adobo.

  3. 3

Simmer for 5-7 minutes until thickened.

  4. 4

Taste & adjust seasoning with AP Seasoning & liquid smoke.

Step 5: glaze & caramelize

  1. 1

Unwrap ribs and generously brush with BBQ sauce.

  2. 2

Return to oven at 375°F (190°C) for 15-30 minutes, until the sauce caramelizes beautifully.

Step 6: rest, slice & serve

  1. 1

Let ribs rest 5-10 minutes before slicing.

  2. 2

Serve with extra BBQ sauce and your favorite sides!

About this Recipe

Craving melt-in-your-mouth, fall-off-the-bone ribs without the hassle of a smoker? These Oven Baked BBQ Ribs deliver tender, flavorful perfection right from your kitchen, making any meal a special occasion. Whether you’re prepping for a weekend gathering or just craving some comfort food, these ribs are sure to impress.

The magic behind these ribs is a two-stage baking process that locks in moisture and infuses deep flavor. We first bathe them in a rich concoction of butter, honey, brown sugar, and liquid smoke before slathering them in a vibrant, homemade barbecue sauce. This ensures every bite is unbelievably tender, complex, and deeply satisfying.

Prepare yourself for intensely flavorful, succulent ribs where the meat effortlessly pulls away from the bone. Each rib is coated in a sticky, sweet, and subtly spicy homemade BBQ sauce, balanced by the savory notes of all-purpose and BBQ seasonings. The long, slow bake transforms humble ribs into an extraordinary dish, perfect for a relaxed weekend feast that tastes like it came from your favorite smokehouse.

Feel free to customize the sweetness and heat of your sauce; adjust the amount of molasses for a deeper, richer sweetness or increase the chipotles in adobo for an extra kick. For the initial braising liquid, you can choose between fruit juice, beer, or broth to subtly alter the flavor profile of the meat itself, tailoring it to your preference.

These impressive Oven Baked BBQ Ribs are ideal for weekend gatherings, family dinners, or whenever you crave hearty comfort food. Serve them simply with your favorite coleslaw, cornbread, or a fresh green salad for a complete and satisfying meal.
