Our favorite buttercream frosting recipe is creamy and fluffy, can be tinted for any occasion, and is perfect for piping and decorating.

Ingredients

  • ½ cupunsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 2 cupsconfectioners' sugar, sifted
  • 1 ½ teaspoonspure vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoonsmilk
  • 3 dropsfood coloring, or as needed

    Gather the ingredients.

    Cream butter in the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment until smooth and fluffy.

    Gradually beat in confectioners' sugar until fully incorporated.
