Let’s cut right to the chase—why make a dozen tiny cookies when you could just make one, honking-huge, buttery, chocolate chip-filled skillet cookie?

Ingredients

  • ½ cupunsalted butter, melted
  • ½ cuppacked brown sugar
  • ¼ cupgranulated sugar
  • 1 largeegg
  • 1 teaspoonvanilla extract
  • 1 ¼ cupsall-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoonbaking soda
  • ½ teaspoonsea salt
  • 2 ouncesmilk chocolate, finely chopped, plus more for serving
  • ½ cupdark chocolate, chunks
  • vanilla ice cream, for serving
  • maldon salt, for serving

Directions

  1. 1

Preheat the oven to 350°F, with a rack in the center position.

  2. 2

In a large bowl combine the melted butter, brown sugar and granulated sugar. Mix in the egg and vanilla extract, until fully combined.

  3. 3

Add the flour, baking soda, and salt to the bowl. Stir until a dough forms and no dry bits remain. Stir in both the milk chocolate and the dark chocolate chunks.

  4. 4

Press the dough into a lightly greased 10-inch cast iron skillet.

  5. 5

Bake until the center is set, but still a bit gooey, about 18-20 minutes. Remove from the oven and cool slightly.

  6. 6

Top with ice cream, flakey salt, and finely chopped chocolate.
