This snickerdoodle recipe is a real crowd-pleaser. Who doesn't love snickerdoodle cookies with crisp edges, chewy centers, and a spiced sugar coating?

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cupswhite sugar
  • ½ cupbutter, softened
  • ½ cupshortening
  • 2 largeeggs
  • 2 teaspoonsvanilla extract
  • 2 ¾ cupsall-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoonscream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoonbaking soda
  • ¼ teaspoonsalt
  • 2 tablespoonswhite sugar
  • 2 teaspoonsground cinnamon

    Gather all ingredients.

    Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).

    Make cookies: Beat sugar, butter, shortening, eggs, and vanilla in a large bowl until smooth and creamy.

    Whisk flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt together in a separate bowl. Gradually mix dry ingredients mixture into the wet ingredients just until combined.

    Make cinnamon-sugar: Combine sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl or zip-top plastic bag.
