These candied bacon crackers are a sweet and savory treat no one can resist! With brown sugar and cayenne pepper, they pack a flavorful punch.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil for easy cleanup. Place a wire rack on top. (The rack helps keep the crackers crisp by allowing fat to drip down.)
Lay out the club crackers in a single layer on the wire rack. Make sure they’re not overlapping.
Cut each bacon strip into thirds. Place one piece of bacon on top of each cracker, ensuring it covers most of the cracker.
Sprinkle a pinch of brown sugar on top of each bacon piece. If using cayenne or black pepper, mix them with the brown sugar beforehand for even seasoning.
Place the tray in the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes. Or until the bacon is crispy and the sugar has caramelized. Keep an eye on them toward the end to avoid burning.
If using maple syrup, brush a thin layer over the bacon during the last 5 minutes of baking for an extra layer of sweetness and shine.
Remove the bacon crackers from the oven and let them cool slightly. They’ll crisp up further as they cool. Serve warm or at room temperature.
