Sour cream coffee cake is a moist, tender, and flavorful snack cake. My recipe has both a cinnamon sugar ripple and a sweet crumb topping, but it's still easy enough for beginners! Recipe includes a how-to video!

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (softened )
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ⅓ cup light brown sugar (firmly packed)
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature preferred)
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • 1 ⅓ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup brown sugar (firmly packed )
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 4 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 10 Tablespoons unsalted butter (melted and cooled until no longer warm to the touch)

Directions

    Preheat oven to 350F (175C) and lightly grease a 9x9” (23x23cm) metal pan with butter. Set aside.

    Combine butter and sugar in a large mixing bowl and use an electric mixer to beat together until light and fluffy.

    Combine flour, sugars, cinnamon, and salt In a medium sized bowl and whisk until combined.
