
A berry twist on the classic old fashioned cocktail is perfect for summer. Made with blueberry simple syrup and whiskey, bourbon, or rye, this flavored cocktail is not to miss!
In a glass (or cocktail shaker) stir together the whiskey, syrup, and bitters.
Strain into a rocks glass over one large ice cube, and garnish with an orange peel twist.
Add all ingredients to a small saucepan. Lightly crush blueberries. Place over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer. Simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally to ensure the sugar dissolves and the blueberry breaks down.
Strain through cheesecloth and/or a mesh strainer. Allow the syrup to cool to room temperature before using.
