Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cupsall-purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoonsalt
  • 1 cupshortening or lard
  • ¼ cupcold water
  • 1 largeegg
  • 1 tablespoonwhite vinegar

Directions

    Whisk flour and salt together in a large bowl. Cut in shortening until it resembles coarse crumbs.

    Mix cold water, egg, and vinegar together in a separate bowl.

    Add egg mixture to flour mixture. Using a fork or pastry cutter, blend until a ball of dough forms.

    Divide into three equal balls; flatten each ball into a disk. Wrap disks in plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready to use.
