Don't let time (or a nearly empty pantry!) stand in the way of your next chocolate craving. This chocolate wacky cake recipe might just be our easiest dessert yet. Simply mix up a handful of shelf-stable ingredients directly in your baking dish, and that's it!

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cupsall-purpose flour
  • 1 cupsugar
  • ¼ cupunsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoonbaking soda
  • 1 tablespooninstant coffee crystals or 2 tsp. instant espresso coffee powder
  • ½ teaspoonsalt
  • ⅓ cupvegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoonwhite vinegar
  • 1 teaspoonvanilla
  • 1 cuphot water
  • chocolate frosting

Directions

    Add Dry Ingredients to Baking Dish Preheat oven to 350°F. In an 8x8-inch baking pan combine the first six ingredients (through the salt).

    Add Wet Ingredients Make 3 wells in the flour mixture; pour oil into one well, vinegar into the second well, and vanilla into the third well. Pour water over the top and stir with a fork until combined.

    Bake and Frost Bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 35 minutes. Cool cake completely in pan on a wire rack. Top with Chocolate Frosting.
