Crock-Pot Pulled Pork Recipe

This easy slow cooker recipe is one that everyone needs to have in their repertoire. With just 5 ingredients you can easily get the ingredients in your slow cooker in a few minutes and let the pork butt roast cook all day long. The secret ingredient is pineapple juice which tenderizes the pork while it cooks!

Ingredients

  • 4 poundspork butt roast (can also use pork shoulder roast)
  • 2 cupspineapple juice
  • 2 cupsbottled barbecue sauce (your favorite brand, divided)
  • 1 mediumyellow onion (minced)
  • 2 clovesgarlic (minced)

Directions

    Trim any excess fat from the pork butt (or shoulder) roast and place in the bottom of a 6 quart or larger slow cooker.

    In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the pineapple juice, 1 cup of the barbecue sauce, minced onion and garlic.

    Pour sauce mixture evenly over the top of the pork roast.

    Cover and cook on LOW for 8 to 10 hours or on HIGH for 4 to 5 hours.

    Remove roast from slow cooker and place in a large bowl or baking dish and shred the meat with two forks, removing and discarding any large fatty bits if necessary.

    Drain off the cooking liquid in the slow cooker and discard.

    Add shredded pork back into the slow cooker and add the remaining 1 cup of barbecue sauce. Toss to coat the pulled pork into the sauce.

    Recover slow cooker and allow to cook on LOW for 30 minutes to allow the pork to heat back up in the sauce.

    Serve pulled pork on your favorite buns or rolls or use in other dishes as needed.
