Chocolate Dump Cake

Chocolate Dump Cake

Easy chocolate dump cake takes only 15 minutes of hands-on time. Put everything into the pan, then let the magic happens as it bakes.

Ingredients

  • Cooking spray
  • 1 (13.25-oz.) pkg. chocolate fudge cake mix (such as Betty Crocker)
  • 1 (3.9-oz.) pkg. chocolate instant pudding and pie filling (such as Jell-O)
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup (4 oz.) unsalted butter
  • 1 Tbsp. vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1 (12-oz.) bag semisweet chocolate chips (about 2 cups)
  • Sweetened whipped cream or vanilla ice cream, for serving

Directions

  1. 1

Mix cake mix and pudding: Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly coat a 13-x9-inch baking dish with cooking spray. Dump cake mix and instant pudding in even layer in prepared baking dish; set aside.

  2. 2

Warm milk and melt butter: Microwave milk and butter in a medium, heat-proof bowl on HIGH, until butter is melted, 1 to 2 minutes, stirring after 1 minute. Stir in vanilla, if using. Drizzle butter mixture evenly over dry ingredients.

  3. 3

Mix batter: Gently mix to break down any large clumps or dry spots.

  4. 4

Add chocolate chips: Sprinkle chocolate chips evenly over top of cake batter.

  5. 5

Bake cake: Bake in preheated oven until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out with a few moist crumbs, about 45 minutes. Let cool completely in pan on wire rack, about 1 1/2 hours.

  6. 6

Serve: Slice and serve with whipped cream or ice cream.
