Southern Tomato Gravy is a classic Southern dish. People love to eat it but often will not attempt to make it. We share our recipe for a perfect and easy tomato gravy. Add that bacon on top and you will be hooked!

Ingredients

  • * I Tablespoon Butter
  • * 2 Tablespoons bacon grease
  • * 1 & 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • * 2 tablespoons plain flour
  • * 1 & 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • * 1 & 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • * 1, 14oz can diced tomatoes
  • * 2 cups tomato juice
  • * 6 slices, cooked bacon, optional

Directions

    Heat bacon grease a butter in a large Skillet over medium heat. Add onions t cook until soft. 1-2 minutes.

    Add flour, salt & pepper mix until soft ball or paste forms. Cook for I minute stirring.

    Gradually add tomatoes & tomato juice. Boil at medium heat a whisk to combine. Lower heat to low & cook about 10 minutes or until thickens. Serve over biscuits and sprinkle with cooked bacon.
