Hibachi Noodles Recipe

Rich and buttery, Japanese Hibachi Noodles is a stir-fried noodle recipe, where noodles are stir-fried in butter along with a few sauces and brown sugar. Make this easy and quick restaurant-quality recipe in under 20 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoonssoy sauce
  • 1 tablespoonteriyaki sauce
  • 2 tablespoonsbrown sugar
  • 1 tablespoonmirin (or rice vinegar or white vinegar)
  • 7 ouncedry noodles (200 g, you can use linguine pasta in place of noodles)
  • 3 tablespoonsbutter (salted or unsalted)
  • 1 tablespoonsesame oil (or vegetable oil)
  • ¼ cupchopped onions
  • 2 teaspoonsminced ginger
  • 2 teaspoonsminced garlic
  • ½ teaspoonsalt (or to taste)
  • ¼ teaspoonground pepper
  • 2 teaspoonswhite sesame seeds

Directions

Cook the noodles

    Cook the dry noodles in salted water as per the package directions. Cook the noodles al dente. If they are overcooked, the final dish will become soggy.

    Note – You can cook the noodles in advance to fasten the process. Once cooked, drain the water and toss the cooked noodles in 2 teaspoon oil to prevent them from sticking to each other. You can refrigerate them in an air-tight container for upto 4 days.

Make the sauce

    Stir together soy sauce, teriyaki sauce, brown sugar, and mirin in a bowl and set aside.

Stir fry the noodles

    Heat butter and sesame oil in a skillet or a wok over high heat.

    Once they are hot, add onions, ginger, and garlic and saute for 2-3 minutes until they are lightly browned.

    Now add the sauce mixture and cooked noodles to the skillet and toss to coat the noodles with the sauce.

    Add salt and ground pepper and toss well.

    Check for salt and add more if required.

    Sprinkle sesame seeds on top and serve immediately.
