Creamy Coconut Coquitos Will Make You Forget All About Eggnog

This classic Puerto Rican Christmas cocktail is creamy, full of coconut flavor and warm spices, and the perfect drink to enjoy during the holidays.

Ingredients

  • 2cans sweetened condensed milk
  • 2cans evaporated milk
  • 1can cream of coconut
  • 1vanilla bean, halved and seeds scraped out
  • 2 tsp.ground cinnamon
  • 2cinnamon sticks, plus more for serving
  • ¼ tsp.freshly grated nutmeg
  • kosher salt
  • 1 ½ c.puerto rican rum

Directions

    Combine sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, cream of coconut, vanilla bean and scrapings, ground cinnamon, cinnamon sticks, nutmeg, and salt in a large pot. Bring to a simmer over medium-high heat. Remove from heat and let steep at least 30 minutes and up to 2 days. (Chill if steeping for longer than 30 minutes.)

    Discard solids. Stir in rum. Serve over ice garnished with cinnamon sticks.
