This quick and easy homemade salsa recipe is a great staple to keep in your fridge any time of year. The tasty recipe combines tomatoes, red onion, cilantro, lime juice and a few seasonings for a fresh salsa that’s better than anything you can buy at the store. Ready to eat in just 15 minutes, you can easily customize this easy salsa recipe by adding a hint of sweet or spicy by stirring in one cup of chopped mango, peach or pineapple, or ¼ cup of diced jalapeno pepper. Serve this salsa with your favorite tortilla chips, our homemade Guacamole, or use it as a topping for tacos, nachos and burritos.

Ingredients

  • 2 poundsroma tomatoes cored and chopped
  • 1 tspsalt
  • ½ smallred onion finely chopped
  • ¼ cupfinely chopped fresh cilantro leaves and stems
  • 1 tbspfresh lime juice
  • 2tsps garlic powder
  • ½ tspblack pepper ground

Directions

    Place tomatoes in mesh strainer over medium bowl. Sprinkle with salt, tossing gently to mix. Let stand 30 minutes. Meanwhile, mix remaining ingredients in large bowl. Set aside.

    Place 1 1/2 cups of the tomatoes in food processor. Pulse just until smooth. Add pureed tomatoes to bowl with remaining ingredients. Add remaining tomatoes, stirring to mix well.

    Serve immediately or store in airtight container in refrigerator up to 1 week. Test Kitchen Tip: For a sweet or spicy twist, stir in 1 cup chopped fresh mango, peach or pineapple, or 1/4 cup chopped fresh jalapeño.
