Kolacky is a famous recipe from Czech cuisine that people enjoy and make worldwide. I have never tried the traditional taste of it but have been making my grandmother's recipe for a long time.

Ingredients

  • Unsalted butter 1 stick (At room temperature)
  • Cream cheese half cup (At room temperature)
  • One and a ¼ cup of flour
  • Pastry fruit filling ⅔ cup (You can easily find it at a grocery store)
  • Powdered sugar 2 tbsp (Optional for icing)

Directions

  1. 1

Mix flour, butter, and cream cheese in a large bowl. With the help of a fork or spoon, mix it well, and then use your hands to make a nice dough. Knead it for 5 to 7 minutes and then cover it with plastic wrap.

  2. 2

Put the bowl in the freezer for 10 minutes and let it out.

  3. 3

Dush your clean counter with some flour and get the dough out. Roll it in a rectangular shape to get ⅛ thickness.

  4. 4

Now you can either cut out circles or squares. If you are taking our circles, just put the pastry filling in and add another circle on the top. For squares, add the pastry filling in the center, and use the sides around it to lift over the filling. Press them a little and then put them carefully on a baking sheet.

  5. 5

Bake it at 340 degrees F for 15 minutes, then dust with some icing sugar.
