These chocolate Rice Krispies treats are a fun take on a classic! Made with chocolate chips and marshmallows, they're a tasty upgrade to the snack you love.
Line an 8-inch baking pan with parchment or wax paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal. Lightly spray with cooking spray and set aside.
In a large pot, melt the butter over low heat, stirring occasionally to prevent burning.
Add the marshmallows to the melted butter and stir constantly until mostly melted. Stir in the cocoa powder, vanilla extract, and salt, mixing until smooth and well combined.
Add the chocolate chips to the marshmallow mixture and stir until fully melted and incorporated. Remove the pot from the heat.
Gently fold the Rice Krispies cereal into the chocolate marshmallow mixture, ensuring all the cereal is evenly coated.
Transfer the mixture to the prepared pan. Using a greased spatula or a sheet of wax paper, press the mixture evenly into the pan without compressing it too tightly.
Allow the mixture to cool at room temperature for about 1 hour, or until firm. Lift out of the pan using the parchment overhang and cut into squares.
