Ingredients

  • 8 tbspbutter, softened to room temperature
  • ½ cupbrown sugar, packed
  • ¼ cupwhite sugar
  • 1egg
  • 1 tspvanilla extract
  • ½ tspbaking soda
  • ½ tspsalt
  • 1 cupflour
  • 1 cupchocolate chips
  • flaky salt (optional)

Directions

  1. 1

Preheat the oven to 350 F. Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper.

  2. 2

Using a stand mixer or a hand mixer, cream together the softened butter and sugars until fluffy, about 30 seconds to 1 minute.

  3. 3

Add in the egg and vanilla extract and mix until just combined.

  4. 4

Add in the baking soda, salt, and flour and mix until just combined. Don't overmix.

  5. 5

Gently fold in the chocolate chips by hand.

  6. 6

Using a standard cookie scoop (1.5 to 2 tbsp), transfer the dough to the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 3 inches of space in between.

  7. 7

Bake on the middle rack for 6 minutes. Rotate the tray 180 degrees and bake for another 6-9 minutes. The edges should be browned and the center golden. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt. Allow to cool for about 10 minutes before serving. For best results, enjoy within 1-2 days.
