Forget the canned stuff and make this super-easy (and perfectly tart) homemade cranberry sauce recipe—you only need 5 ingredients and just 20 minutes!

Ingredients

  • 1 c. (200 g.) granulated sugar
  • 12 oz. fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 2 tsp. finely grated orange zest
  • Pinch of kosher salt

Directions

    In a small saucepan over low heat, combine sugar and 1 c. water, stirring until sugar dissolves. Add cranberries and bring to a boil over medium-high heat.

    Reduce heat to medium and simmer, stirring occasionally, until cranberries burst and mixture is thickened, about 10 minutes.

    Stir in orange zest and salt. Let cool.

    Make Ahead: Cranberry sauce can be made 1 week ahead. Transfer to an airtight container and refrigerate.
