Customization & Serving Ideas
This recipe is incredibly versatile. You can easily swap the Italian sausage for mild breakfast sausage or even diced ham for a different flavor profile. Feel free to experiment with your favorite cheeses; Gruyère, Swiss, or a Monterey Jack blend would also work beautifully. For an even richer custard, you could use half-and-half in place of the milk.
