Mouthwatering collard greens are the essence of Southern cuisine! Slow-cooked to perfection with smoked ham hocks - they're addictively delicious!

Ingredients

  • 2 medium onions (finely chopped)
  • 2 smoked ham hocks
  • 6-8 cloves garlic (finely chopped)
  • 3 containers chicken broth ((32 oz. each))
  • 3 lbs. collard greens (washed, trimmed and roughly chopped)
  • ⅓ cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons granulated sugar
  • 1½ teaspoons seasoned salt
  • ¾ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ¾ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¾ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼-½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

Directions

    Combine the onions, ham hocks, and garlic in a large stockpot. Add the chicken broth. Cook the mixture over medium heat until meat is falling off the bone, about 2 hours.

    Stir in the collard greens, vinegar, sugar, salt, and pepper into the broth mixture. Cook until the greens have reached the desired tenderness, about 2 hours.

    Discard bones and serve immediately.
