About this Recipe
Craving a side dish that's both delightfully sweet and refreshingly unique? These Sweet Potato Orange Cups offer an unforgettable presentation and a burst of flavor perfect for any gathering. This family-favorite recipe transforms humble sweet potatoes into an elegant and zesty creation.
What sets these Sweet Potato Orange Cups apart is their clever individual serving in natural orange peel cups. This technique isn't just for show; it infuses the creamy sweet potato mixture with a subtle, bright citrus note that beautifully balances the sweetness of brown sugar and marshmallows. The addition of crunchy pecans adds a textural contrast that elevates every bite.
Expect a harmonious blend of flavors and textures in every serving. You'll savor the velvety smoothness of mashed sweet potato, brightened by the tangy zest of orange and a hint of warm sweetness. The miniature marshmallows on top caramelize lightly, while chopped pecans provide a satisfying crunch. This dish is naturally gluten-free and makes a festive, eye-catching addition to your table, offering a lighter alternative to heavier, traditional sweet potato casseroles.
Feel free to adjust this recipe to your liking. While pecans are called for, toasted walnuts or even a sprinkle of toasted coconut flakes could offer a delightful twist. If you're looking to reduce the sweetness slightly, you can lessen the amount of brown sugar. For a simpler presentation, the sweet potato mixture can also be served in a baking dish and topped with marshmallows and pecans, bypassing the orange cups if desired.
These individual Sweet Potato Orange Cups are ideal for holiday dinners, special family meals, or any occasion where you want to impress your guests with a creative and delicious side.
