Homemade Tartar Sauce

This old-school sauce is the absolute best for dipping crispy french fries and all types of fried seafood.

Ingredients

  • squeezed lemon juice

    from 1/2 medium lemon

    1 tbsp
  • shallot
    1 small
  • dill pickle spears
    2
  • nonpareil capers
    2 tbsp
  • fresh parsley leaves

    fresh dill, or a combination

    2 tbsp
  • mayonnaise
    1 c
  • Freshly ground black pepper

Directions

    Place 1 tablespoon lemon juice, 1 finely chopped small shallot, 2 coarsely chopped dill pickle spears, 2 tablespoons drained nonpareil capers, and 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh parsley leaves, fresh dill, or a combination in a medium bowl.

    Add 1 cup mayonnaise and stir to combine. Taste and season with freshly ground black pepper. Let sit for 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld before serving.

    Storage: The tartar sauce can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 1 week. Stir again before serving.
