Ouzi Rice Preparation

  1. 1

Heat olive oil and ghee in a pan. Sauté the finely chopped onion with salt and black pepper.

Add the minced meat and cook until browned.

  4. 4

  5. 5

Wash the Sunwhite rice several times until the water runs clear; do not soak.

  6. 6

Season the washed rice with the remaining half of the spices (salt, black pepper, seven spices, allspice, turmeric, garlic powder).

  7. 7

Add the seasoned rice to the pan with the vegetables and meat. Sauté for about 2 minutes.

  8. 8

Cover the mixture with the dissolved stock powder in boiling water. Bring to a boil.

Tips for Perfect Phyllo Cups:

  • Layering is Key: Use multiple layers of phyllo dough for each cup to ensure they are sturdy and extra crispy.
  • Butter or Ghee: Brushing each phyllo sheet lightly with melted olive oil or animal ghee before layering helps create that irresistible flakiness and golden color.
  • Don't Overfill: Leave a little space at the top of the phyllo cups to prevent spillage and allow for even baking.

Serve these Ouzi in Phyllo Cups as a stunning appetizer or as part of a larger feast. They pair wonderfully with a side of cooling yogurt or a fresh green salad, making for a truly memorable culinary experience.
