These incredible homemade zrazy are more than just potato patties; they're a culinary experience, featuring a perfectly golden, crispy potato exterior encasing a rich, savory filling of seasoned ground meat and melty cheese. If you're searching for a hearty and satisfying potato recipe, these savory patties are an absolute must-try.
What makes our Potato Zrazy so special? It's the delightful contrast of textures and flavors. We start with a fluffy, well-seasoned potato dough, expertly shaped to hold a juicy blend of ground meat (your choice of chicken, beef, or a mix!), infused with fragrant spices like smoked paprika and garlic powder, and enriched with sour cream for incredible tenderness. A surprise hint of grated mozzarella or other cheese ensures every bite is pure bliss. The final pan-fry creates that irresistible golden-brown crust, making them truly unforgettable.
Tips for Perfect Zrazy Every Time
- Potato Perfection: Use starchy potatoes for the best dough. Ensure your mashed potatoes are well-drained and cooled before mixing with egg and flour – this prevents a sticky dough.
- Flavorful Filling: Don't shy away from seasoning your meat generously. The combination of onion, sour cream, and spices makes all the difference. For extra creaminess, a touch of cream cheese or feta in the filling elevates the flavor profile even more.
- Golden Fry: Don't overcrowd your pan when frying. Give each zrazy space to brown evenly and develop that coveted crispy exterior.
