Blueberry-chocolate pie

  1. 1

Preheat oven to 375°F. Prepare Sour Cream Cookie Dough . Place half of the dough between two sheets of parchment paper and roll to a 12-inch circle. Remove one piece of parchment; carefully flip dough circle into a 9-inch pie plate. Trim and flute edge as desired. Line with a double thickness of foil. Bake 10 minutes; carefully remove foil. Bake until golden, 4 to 5 minutes more. Remove from oven; sprinkle crust with chocolate chips.

  2. 2

Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Crumble remaining dough on prepared cookie sheet. Bake until crumbles are golden, 7 to 8 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack; cool completely.

  3. 3

For filling, in a large saucepan stir together sugar, flour, and lemon juice. Add 4 cups of the blueberries. Cook and stir over medium until thickened, bubbly, and deepened in color, 5 to 7 minutes. Remove from heat. Stir in remaining 2 cups berries. Pour filling into crust. Top with baked cookie crumbles. Cool completely. If you like, serve with additional fresh blueberries. Makes 8 servings.

Imagine a tender, buttery cookie dough crust studded with delightful semisweet chocolate chips, providing a comforting counterpoint to a vibrant, sweet, and slightly tangy blueberry filling.

What truly sets this pie apart is its unique foundation. Instead of a traditional pastry, we've crafted a cookie dough crust that bakes up beautifully, offering a hint of chewiness and an extra layer of sweetness thanks to the embedded chocolate chips. This innovative base perfectly complements the juicy fresh blueberries, which are brightened with a touch of lemon juice for that essential zest, and sweetened with just the right amount of sugar and flour to create a perfectly set filling.

Our recipe uses a rich Sour Cream Cookie Dough, incorporating ingredients like butter, sour cream, and vanilla for an incredibly flavorful and tender crust. Each bite delivers a burst of juicy blueberry goodness mingled with melted chocolate and the comforting texture of a homemade cookie.

Tips for Pie Perfection:

  • Choose Your Berries Wisely: While fresh blueberries are ideal, you can use frozen blueberries (do not thaw) in a pinch, though you might need to adjust baking time slightly.
  • Don't Skimp on the Chocolate: The semisweet chocolate chips in the crust melt into delightful pockets, enhancing every slice.
  • The Lemon Touch: The fresh lemon juice in the filling is crucial; it balances the sweetness of the blueberries and chocolate, making the flavors pop.

This Blueberry-Chocolate Pie is perfect for any occasion, from a casual family dinner to a special gathering. Serve it warm with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream or a dollop of freshly whipped cream for an unforgettable treat. It’s a truly special dessert that’s sure to become a new family favorite.
