The secret to their exceptional moisture and unique flavor lies in a surprisingly simple ingredient: unsweetened applesauce. Combined with everyday staples like ground beef, milk, and croutons for binding, these meatballs stay wonderfully tender, resisting the dryness often found in other recipes.
Prepare for a delightful comfort food experience. Each bite of these Applesauce Meatballs delivers a tender, juicy texture with a subtle sweetness from the applesauce, perfectly balanced by the savory ground beef and a hint of onion. They're simmered in a simple yet rich tomato soup sauce, creating a cohesive dish that's both hearty and comforting. Served over buttery noodles, this recipe promises a satisfying meal that feels both familiar and refreshingly new.
While the recipe features lean ground beef, you could experiment with a mix of ground pork for added richness. For a different flavor profile, consider adding a pinch of garlic powder to the meat mixture. If you prefer a richer sauce, try using beef broth instead of water with the tomato soup.
