Cheeseburger Rice is an easy one pan meal that can be made in less than 30 minutes for under $10! INGREDIENTS 1 lb of ground beef 1 tsp each of paprika, oregano, garlic powder, onion powder 1/2 tsp each of salt and pepper 1 chopped onion 1 1/2 cups of beef broth 1 cup long grain white rice, rinsed 8 oz can of tomato sauce 1 tbsp minced garlic 1 1/2 cups of shredded Colby Jack cheese INSTRUCTIONS Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Brown 1 lb of ground beef with chopped onion. Season with salt, pepper, paprika, oregano, garlic powder and onion powder. Once the beef is browned, drain any extra grease if needed. Add the minced garlic and stir. Next, add the rinsed uncooked rice, beef broth, and tomato sauce to the skillet. Stir everything together well. Bring to a quick boil and turn heat down to low. Cover with a lid and cook for about 15 minutes stirring once or twice to keep the rice from sticking to the bottom of the pan. Once the rice is cooked add about 1 cup of cheese and stir. Top with a little bit more cheese and let sit on the stove until the cheese melts or put it in the oven under broil for just a couple of minutes. Top with dried parsley. Enjoy! This isn’t just any beef stew, however. This stew is fancy. It’s luxe and lush and so intensely flavored, if you’re anything like me, after one bite you’ll forget every crock pot attempt that yielded thin broths, tough meat, weak flavor and, always, unevenly cooked vegetables (potato mush and still-rubbery carrots, sigh), or at least I did. It will an excellent consolation prize for a winter you’re totally ready to be done with, pretty as it can occasionally be.

This baked brisket recipe with onions and tomatoes is perfect for any Jewish holiday, but it has been at the center of our Passover table for generations. I’ve been making this version inspired by Emeril’s beef brisket for my Seder table, and can truly say it is the best Passover brisket you will ever eat. Stuffing the meat with garlic cloves and the homemade caramelized onions (none of that soup mix business, here) are what make this brisket special.

Deliciously sweet and rich, this has echoes of a beef demiglace sauce, but takes less time to make. The sauce (before the final thickening step) can be made a day or two in advance and refrigerated. This is not an inexpensive sauce to make, so for me, it's a special-occasion sauce, but well worth it. Adapted from a recipe in Fine Cooking magazine.
Think of Lahmacun (Lahamajoun) as super thin, crispy pizza (or flatbread) known in Armenia and Turkey, topped with a flavor-packed mixture of minced meat with peppers, tomato, fresh herbs and earthy spices. I take a major shortcut by using quality store-bought pizza dough. But the secret is in the spice mixture.
