About this Recipe

Craving that hearty, comforting taste of a classic cheese steak in an easy weeknight meal? This homemade version of hamburger helper brings all those savory, cheesy flavors right to your dinner table without the fuss. It's the perfect solution when you want a satisfying, flavorful dinner fast.

This recipe shines because it brilliantly captures the essence of a cheese steak—rich beef, savory seasonings, and melty cheese—and transforms it into a quick, one-pot pasta dish. The key lies in layering familiar flavors like steak seasoning, garlic, and onion powder, alongside a surprising addition of A1 Steak Sauce which deepens the beefy notes. This thoughtful combination ensures a robust flavor profile that tastes anything but "helper-level."

Prepare for a truly satisfying experience with this creamy, savory pasta dish. You'll find tender spiral pasta bathed in a rich, beefy sauce, perfectly complemented by the sweetness of chopped onions and the fresh crunch of green bell peppers. Each forkful delivers a comforting blend of seasoned ground beef and wonderfully melted mozzarella, creating that signature gooey, cheesy texture. It's a deliciously familiar yet elevated meal, designed for maximum flavor and minimal effort, making it a guaranteed crowd-pleaser for any evening.

This recipe is quite flexible. While ground beef is classic for this "cheese steak" profile, you could certainly experiment with ground turkey for a lighter take. Don't have green bell pepper? Red or yellow bell pepper would add a different, slightly sweeter note. For those who enjoy a bit of heat, a pinch of red pepper flakes stirred in with the seasonings adds a welcome kick. Any short pasta shape, like elbow macaroni or medium shells, will work beautifully if you don't have spiral pasta on hand.

This robust and comforting dish serves as a complete meal on its own, making it ideal for busy weeknights or casual family dinners. Pair it with a simple green salad or some crusty bread to scoop up every last bit of the rich, cheesy sauce.
