Chocolate Covered Banana Bites
Ingredients
- 1 banana
- 3.5 oz dark chocolate
- 4.5-9 tsp unsweetened nut butter
hazelnut butter is my favorite
- 1/2 tsp flaky sea salt
Directions
- 1
Cut the banana into about 9 equal pieces and lay them out in one layer on a parchment-paper-lined baking sheet.
- 2
Add a dollop (1/2 to 1 tsp) of nut butter of your choice to each banana slice, then place the baking sheet into the freezer for 10 minutes.
- 3
In the meantime, melt the dark chocolate either in the microwave or a water bath until smooth and glossy. Do not overheat or it'll curdle.
- 4
Use two forks to add the banana pieces into the melted chocolate and cover them, then let the excess drip into the bowl. (You might have to re-melt the chocolate after 3-4 pieces of cold banana hit it).
- 5
Place the chocolate covered banana bites back on the same baking sheet, sprinkle with flakey sea salt, and put back in the freezer for a few minutes or until the chocolate hardens.

About this Recipe
Craving a healthy, satisfying treat that feels indulgent without the guilt? These Chocolate Covered Banana Bites are your answer. They're like miniature ice cream bites, offering a perfect healthy dessert or a delightful midnight snack when your sweet tooth calls.
Why These Bites Work
What makes these bites truly special is their incredible balance of flavors and textures, achieved with just a few simple ingredients. The creamy, cold banana pairs beautifully with the rich snap of dark chocolate. A layer of your favorite unsweetened nut butter adds a creamy element, while a sprinkle of flaky sea salt provides a crucial counterpoint, enhancing every sweet and savory note.
Expect a delightful combination of sweet, fruity banana enveloped in decadent dark chocolate, with a smooth, nutty interior. The distinct crunch of the sea salt elevates the entire experience, preventing it from being overly sweet. They're designed to be enjoyed cold, offering a refreshing and satisfying treat that's remarkably easy to prepare with only 5 minutes of active time and a total of 20 minutes from start to finish.
Customization & Variations
While hazelnut butter is a favorite for its distinct flavor, feel free to experiment with other unsweetened nut butters like almond or cashew butter to suit your taste. You can also adjust the intensity of the dark chocolate, opting for a higher or lower percentage based on your preference for bitterness. If you're out of flaky sea salt, a tiny pinch of regular sea salt will still add that crucial savory pop.
These versatile bites are ideal for satisfying a post-dinner craving, as a quick afternoon pick-me-up, or even as a simple, elegant offering for casual gatherings. They deliver maximum flavor and enjoyment with minimal effort.
