You'll be treated to tender penne rigate coated in a velvety, slightly spicy cream sauce. The Cajun seasoning provides a warm, earthy heat that's beautifully balanced by the bright tang of lemon juice and the subtle sharpness of Dijon. If you choose to add the cajun-style andouille smoked sausage, it brings a wonderful smoky, savory depth, making this a hearty and satisfying dish. Expect a flavorful, comforting meal that feels much more elaborate than its easy preparation suggests, offering a delightful creamy texture with every bite.
This versatile dish can easily be adapted to suit your preferences. For a meatless option, simply omit the andouille sausage—the sauce is flavorful enough to stand on its own. You can also adjust the spice level by modifying the amount of Cajun seasoning to your taste. While chicken broth is recommended for a more robust flavor, water can be used if preferred, resulting in a slightly milder finish.
