About this Recipe
Craving incredibly tender, flavor-packed carnitas perfect for tacos, but without the all-day simmering? This Pressure Cooker Carnitas recipe brings that authentic, slow-cooked taste to your table in a fraction of the time.
This recipe works by harnessing the power of the pressure cooker to transform humble cubes of boneless pork shoulder into succulent, fall-apart meat. By first browning the pork, you build a crucial layer of deep, savory flavor before the pressure cooker infuses it with the aromatic blend of poblano, jalapeno, and serrano peppers, alongside fragrant onions and spices.
What you can expect is a truly remarkable carnitas experience. The pork emerges unbelievably tender and juicy, easily shreddable, and infused with a rich, savory depth from the beef broth and a complex, balanced heat from the trio of fresh peppers. Ground coriander and cumin add an earthy, warm spice that ties all the flavors together beautifully, creating seasoned meat that’s bursting with character. This generous recipe yields 12 servings, making it perfect for feeding a crowd or for meal prepping.
Customization & Variations
- To adjust the spice level, simply reduce the number of jalapeno and serrano peppers. For an even milder flavor, you could omit the serrano entirely. Conversely, for more heat, feel free to add an extra serrano or leave some seeds in the jalapenos.
- While the recipe specifies beef broth, you could experiment with chicken broth for a slightly different savory base, though beef broth contributes a richer depth.
These tender, seasoned carnitas are designed to be the star of your next taco night, offering a satisfying and flavorful centerpiece that pairs wonderfully with your favorite fresh toppings.
