Ingredients

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/3 cup milk

  • Vegetable oil

    for brushing/spraying

Directions

  1. 1

    Apple Fritters:

  2. 2

Line the basket of the air fryer with a piece of parchment paper. Brush lightly with vegetable oil.

  3. 3

Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees F.

  4. 4

In a large bowl whisk together flour, both sugars, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

  5. 5

Make a well in the center and add milk, vanilla, and eggs. Stir until well combined, then fold in the apples with a spatula.

  6. 6

Drop about ¼ cup of the batter onto the lined air fryer basket. Depending on the size of your air fryer you may only fit 2-3 fritters at a time. DO NOT overcrowd or they won’t get crispy.

  7. 7

Lightly brush the fritter with oil using a pastry brush. Fry for 4-5 minutes or until deep golden brown. Flip and fry 3-4 more minutes or until they are golden brown.

  8. 8

    Repeat with the remaining batter.

  9. 9

Mix the glaze ingredients in a bowl until combined.

  10. 10

Place apple fritters on the cooling rack and drizzle with glaze and serve.

About this Recipe

Craving the warm, spiced comfort of apple fritters without the deep-fried guilt? These Air Fryer Apple Fritters deliver all the classic flavor and a delightfully crisp texture, made right in your air fryer, ready to satisfy that craving.

This recipe leverages the air fryer's convection power to achieve a beautifully golden exterior without excessive oil, a technique that sets it apart from traditional versions. The thoughtful combination of granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg ensures every bite is packed with traditional apple fritter goodness, while the vanilla adds a comforting sweetness.

You can anticipate a bite-sized treat that's wonderfully crisp on the outside, giving way to a tender, cake-like interior studded with soft, sweet apple pieces. The rich aroma of cinnamon and nutmeg fills your kitchen, promising a comforting experience. A sweet vanilla milk glaze finishes these fritters, adding a touch of decadent sweetness that perfectly complements the spiced apples and makes each fritter an irresistible delight.

Feel free to experiment with different apple varieties; crisp red apples or tart green apples both work beautifully, depending on your preference for sweetness. For an extra layer of flavor, consider adding a pinch of ground ginger to the spice mix alongside the cinnamon and nutmeg. If you prefer a lighter glaze, simply reduce the amount of powdered sugar slightly, or omit it entirely and dust with a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar.

These warm apple fritters are perfect for a cozy weekend breakfast, a delightful dessert, or a comforting snack any time of year. Serve them alongside your favorite coffee or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra special treat.
