BEST Air Fryer Country Style Ribs Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 Tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons chili powder*
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 2 pounds Country Style Ribs
- 1/2 cup smoky BBQ sauce
or your favorite, divided
- Fresh diced parsley for garnish
optional
Directions
- 1
Add the brown sugar, chili powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, cumin, garlic powder, fine sea salt, crushed red pepper flakes, and ground black pepper to a small mixing bowl. Stir together until well combined and there are no remaining clumps of brown sugar.
- 2
Evenly coat each rib entirely in the rub (press/massage the seasoning into the meat so that it sticks to the meat during cooking).
- 3
Preheat a 5 Quart air fryer at 370 F for 3 minutes.
- 4
Place the ribs into the AF basket any way they fit with a small amount of space between them for air flow (you’ll probably have to place them upright on their sides).
- 5
Cook the ribs at 370 F for 10 minutes. Use kitchen tongs to flip the ribs, then cook for another 10 minutes.
- 6
Use tongs to remove the ribs from the air fryer basket. Brush the ribs with 1/4 cup of BBQ sauce. Place the ribs back into the air fryer and cook at 400 F for an additional 3-4 minutes (or until 145 F is reached on an instant read thermometer). Use tongs to remove from the air fryer and let rest for 5 minutes.
- 7
Use a clean basting brush to coat with the remaining BBQ sauce, and serve!

About this Recipe
Imagine sinking your teeth into incredibly juicy, tender country style ribs, bursting with smoky BBQ flavor – all ready in under 30 minutes. This BEST Air Fryer Country Style Ribs recipe makes that dream a delicious reality with minimal effort, perfect for any weeknight or casual gathering.
Why This Recipe Works
The magic of the air fryer ensures these boneless pork country style ribs cook up perfectly tender on the inside with a beautifully caramelized exterior, making them a weeknight hero. You get all the robust flavor of slow-cooked ribs without the wait, thanks to a robust, homemade spice blend and your favorite smoky BBQ sauce. The dry rub creates a flavorful crust that locks in moisture as it cooks.
What to Expect
You'll be treated to country style ribs that are remarkably tender, practically falling apart with each bite. The exterior boasts a slight crust from the air frying, holding in all the savory juices. The flavor profile is a delightful dance of sweet brown sugar, earthy chili powder and cumin, smoky paprika, and a touch of warmth from the crushed red pepper flakes, all enhanced by a generous coating of rich BBQ sauce. It's a satisfying, flavor-packed meal that feels indulgent but is surprisingly simple to achieve.
Customization & Variations
Feel free to experiment with your favorite smoky BBQ sauce to tailor the flavor to your preference, whether you like it sweet, tangy, or extra spicy. For a milder rub, you can adjust the amount of chili powder or omit the crushed red pepper flakes entirely. If you’re short on time or missing a specific spice, a good quality pre-made BBQ rub can be a convenient substitute, though the homemade blend is truly special.
Serving & Context
These flavorful Air Fryer Country Style Ribs are perfect for a quick family dinner or a casual backyard gathering. Serve them alongside classic BBQ sides like coleslaw, corn on the cob, or baked beans for a complete and satisfying meal. A sprinkle of fresh diced parsley adds a lovely pop of color and freshness.
