Maple-Glazed Skillet Chicken Breasts with Sweet Potato Hash
Ingredients
- 1 lb boneless skinless chicken breast cutlets
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup white whole wheat flour
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 medium sweet potatoes
peeled and diced into 1/2-in cubes
- 1 small onion
finely diced
- 2 cloves garlic
minced
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 clove garlic
minced
- 3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- Salt and pepper to taste
Directions
- 1
Pat chicken dry and season with salt and pepper on both sides. Dredge chicken breasts in flour. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat oil until shimmery. Place chicken in pan and brown on both sides, 3-4 minutes on each side until golden-brown. Transfer chicken to a plate and set aside for a moment.

Make the sweet potatoes: Heat 1 tablespoon oil in same skillet over medium-high heat until hot. Saute sweet potatoes, onion, and garlic in oil 5-8 minutes until veggies are golden and caramelized (sweet potatoes won't be cooked through) Stir in paprika and season with salt and pepper to taste.
- 3
Arrange chicken breasts around the sweet potatoes in skillet. Bake at 400F 20-25 minutes or until chicken registers 165F and sweet potatoes are tender.

While chicken bakes, make the sauce: In a small skillet over medium-high heat, heat olive oil then saute garlic in oil until just fragrant. Stir in vinegar, syrup, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Bring sauce to a boil, then reduce heat to medium and let simmer until reduced and thickened, about 10 minutes.
- 5
Once chicken is done, drizzle with maple sauce. Enjoy!

About this Recipe
Craving a flavorful, complete meal that comes together in a single pan? These Maple-Glazed Skillet Chicken Breasts with Sweet Potato Hash deliver an incredible weeknight dinner with minimal fuss and maximum taste.
Why This Recipe Works
The magic of this dish lies in its brilliant combination of components. You get tender chicken cutlets glazed with an insanely-good maple-balsamic sauce, perfectly complemented by a hearty, savory sweet potato hash. Cooking everything in one pan means flavors meld beautifully, creating a harmonious and deeply satisfying meal that's more than the sum of its parts.
What to Expect
Prepare for a symphony of flavors and textures in every bite. The boneless, skinless chicken breasts emerge from the skillet succulent and infused with a sticky, tangy-sweet maple glaze, balanced by a hint of garlic and balsamic. Alongside, you'll find a comforting sweet potato hash, tender yet holding its shape, with sweet potatoes and onion made aromatic with garlic and paprika. It's a robust, warming dish that feels both comforting and surprisingly elegant, perfect for a busy evening.
Customization & Variations
This versatile skillet dinner welcomes your personal touch. While chicken cutlets are excellent, you could substitute pork tenderloin medallions or firm tofu for a different protein. If sweet potatoes aren't your preference, diced russet potatoes or even butternut squash could work in the hash, though they'll offer a different flavor profile. For an extra kick, a pinch of cayenne pepper added to the paprika in the hash would be delicious.
Serving & Context
This Maple-Glazed Skillet Chicken and Sweet Potato Hash is a complete meal on its own, ideal for a cozy family dinner or a quick gathering with friends. A simple side salad with a light vinaigrette would be a refreshing contrast to the rich flavors, or serve with a sprinkle of fresh parsley for a pop of color.
