About this Recipe
Craving that warm, soft, and impossibly rich naan bread that perfectly complements your favorite curry? This homemade naan bread recipe delivers exactly that experience, bringing the authentic taste and texture of your beloved Indian restaurant right to your kitchen.
What makes this naan so special is its incredible tenderness and deep flavor. The inclusion of plain yogurt in the dough is key, contributing to an exceptionally soft crumb and a slight tang that balances the richness. A generous coating of melted unsalted butter infused with minced garlic, fresh parsley, and a hint of red pepper flakes creates a craveable aroma and a beautifully savory finish that sets this bread apart.
Get ready for naan that is pillowy soft with a satisfying chew, boasting a golden-brown exterior. Each bite offers a harmonious blend of savory garlic and fresh parsley, with a subtle warmth from the red pepper flakes. While the total process takes a couple of hours, much of it is hands-off, allowing the dough ample time to develop its characteristic structure and flavor. The result is a truly rewarding baking experience that tastes far more complex than the effort suggests.
While this recipe shines with its classic garlic and herb topping, you can easily customize it. For a simpler flavor, omit the minced garlic, fresh parsley, and red pepper flakes from the butter topping to create a delicious plain naan. If you prefer a milder spice level, simply reduce the amount of red pepper flakes or leave them out entirely.
Serve this glorious homemade naan warm alongside a hearty curry, fragrant dhal, or any vibrant Indian dish. It's also fantastic as a simple tear-and-share bread with dips or as an accompaniment to grilled meats, making any meal feel special.
