About this Recipe
Craving restaurant-quality shrimp scampi without the fuss? This Air Fryer Baked Shrimp Scampi, inspired by the classic Chicago-style Shrimp De Jonghe, delivers succulent flavors with remarkable ease, all thanks to the magic of your air fryer.
What makes this recipe truly shine is its clever use of the air fryer to achieve that perfect baked texture in a fraction of the time. The shrimp are tender, bathed in a rich, buttery, garlic-infused sauce, and topped with crispy breadcrumbs, creating a dish that feels both elegant and effortlessly achievable for any weeknight or special occasion. It's a method that perfectly marries convenience with deeply satisfying results.
Prepare for a feast of tender, juicy shrimp enveloped in a fragrant sauce. Each bite offers a harmonious blend of savory butter, aromatic garlic, and the subtle warmth of cayenne and paprika, all brightened by a splash of white wine or cooking sherry. The golden-brown breadcrumbs provide a delightful textural contrast, adding a satisfying crunch that completes the experience. This easy approach means you get gourmet results without hours in the kitchen.
Feel free to adjust the garlic to your liking; the recipe suggests a full teaspoon, but don't hesitate to use two teaspoons for an extra punch. If you prefer a milder flavor, you can reduce the cayenne pepper, or amp it up for more heat. While designed for the Instant Omni or Instant Vortex, this recipe adapts beautifully to any air fryer or even a traditional oven, ensuring you can enjoy it regardless of your equipment. For a different flavor profile, consider using cooking sherry instead of white wine, as both are equally delicious options.
Serve this glorious Air Fryer Baked Shrimp Scampi (Shrimp De Jonghe) alongside a bed of pasta, fluffy rice, or with plenty of crusty bread to sop up every last drop of that delectable sauce. It’s perfect as a main course for a cozy dinner or as an impressive appetizer for guests.
