Level up this classic, easy treat with a few creative toppings. Some of our favorites include sesame seeds, coconut, chopped nuts, and pepitas. Whichever you choose, the recipe will take you less than a half-hour start to finish.

Ingredients

  • 1 cupbittersweet chocolate chips (about 6 oz
  • 1 tsp.coconut oil
  • 2honeycrisp apples
  • various toppings such as chopped pistachio nuts, toasted sesame seeds, chopped salted peanuts, pink himalayan sea salt, granola, shredded coconut, toasted pepitas

Directions

    Melt the chocolate: Melt the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in the microwave at 50% power until melted, about 3 minutes, working in 1 minute intervals. Stir in the coconut oil. Transfer the chocolate mixture to a relatively narrow glass or measuring cup.

    Slice the apples: Slice the apples 1/4-inch thick.

    Dip and refrigerate the apples: Dip half of each apple slice into the chocolate mixture and place on a parchment paper-lined plate or rimmed baking sheet. Sprinkle immediately with toppings. Refrigerate for 15 minutes or until chocolate is set.
