About this Recipe
Looking to elevate your next meal with a burst of flavor? This Classic Remoulade Sauce is your new secret weapon, transforming everything from seafood to fries into an extraordinary culinary experience. Forget bland condiments; this recipe brings a vibrant, creamy tang to your plate.
What makes this remoulade truly shine is its thoughtful combination of briny capers, zesty pickles, and the fresh bite of finely chopped green onion, all brought together by a creamy mayonnaise base and a bright kick from Dijon mustard. A touch of white wine vinegar provides essential acidity, balancing the richness and ensuring every spoonful is perfectly harmonious. This blend offers a complexity that's often missing in simpler sauces, delivering depth with minimal effort.
When you prepare this remoulade, you can expect a beautifully creamy, thick sauce that's bursting with savory, piquant flavors. The capers and pickles lend a delightful briny tang, while the green onion provides a fresh, subtle sharpness. The optional dried tarragon adds a delicate, herby aroma that enhances the overall profile. Its texture is smooth and rich, perfect for dipping or spreading. This versatile condiment takes just 10 minutes to prepare, making it an ideal choice for busy weeknights or impromptu gatherings.
This recipe offers fantastic flexibility to suit your pantry or dietary needs. For a plant-based option, simply use vegan mayonnaise. You can also swap the pickles for cornichons if you prefer their slightly sweeter, tarter profile. If you're craving a bolder, spicier kick, try the Cajun style variation: replace the tarragon with 1 1/2 to 2 teaspoons of Cajun seasoning and add 1/2 teaspoon of hot sauce for an authentic New Orleans flair.
Serve this creamy remoulade alongside crispy fish and chips, as a decadent spread for your favorite burger, or as a dipping sauce for homemade French fries. It also pairs wonderfully with grilled shrimp or crab cakes, adding a professional touch to any meal, big or small.
