The best thing about this recipe for the sauce is it is that you can tweak the amounts until you get it the way you like it best! And, baste for the chicken and chops on the grill!
- 2
Clean and prepare chicken place in bowl and pour buttermilk over it. Set aside.
- 3
In a separate bowl or gallon size Ziploc bag, mix flour and all dry ingredients together. Set aside.
- 4
In a sauce pan melt the butter. When the butter has melted, add all other ingredients and bring to a low boil. Reduce heat to low and let simmer while you make your chicken.
- 5
Heat enough oil in a deep skillet, pan or deep fryer (whatever you use to fry in). Get heat up to 350-375 degrees.
- 6
While oil is heating up add all the chicken to the flour mix, shaking buttermilk off as you add it to the dry mix.
- 7
Fry chicken wings until done (bone-in wings take around 15 mins. and so does the chicken breast) Bumping heat up and down as needed to fry the chicken until done.
- 8
Remove chicken to a paper towel covered plate or rack to drain. When all chicken is done and drained place chicken into a large bowl and slowly pour sauce over and toss to coat. You might not need all the sauce to coat I pour half over chicken and toss then serve it with the sauce on the side to dip in :)

About this Recipe
Craving a kick that's perfectly balanced with a touch of sweetness? These Bee Sting Chicken Wings deliver an unforgettable flavor experience that will quickly become your new go-to, transforming simple chicken into a culinary adventure.
The magic of this dish lies entirely in its aptly named Bee Sting Sauce. It’s a masterful blend where the fiery personality of your favorite hot sauce meets the gentle, coating sweetness of honey. This creates an initial spicy-sweet punch, beautifully balanced by the bright tang of apple cider vinegar. And with a generous amount of garlic puree, it delivers a deeply savory, aromatic foundation that elevates these wings far beyond the ordinary, making them truly special.
Prepare your taste buds for a vibrant journey with these Bee Sting Chicken Wings. You'll savor chicken that promises a delightful exterior, generously coated in a seasoning blend featuring robust garlic and a hint of fiery warmth from optional cayenne and chipotle. Each succulent piece is then drenched in the rich, complex Bee Sting Sauce—a dynamic interplay of savory, spicy notes from hot sauce, soothing sweetness from honey, and a bright tang from apple cider vinegar. This bold combination, all underpinned by an assertive, garlicky flavor, creates a truly unforgettable experience that's both comforting and thrillingly zesty.
This recipe is wonderfully versatile. You can easily swap traditional chicken wings for boneless chicken breast if you prefer a leaner, meatier bite. Adjust the spice level by increasing or decreasing the optional cayenne and chipotle pepper powder in the coating, or by adding more honey to the sauce for a sweeter finish. For a less intense garlic flavor, simply reduce the amount of garlic puree in the sauce. If you don't have mustard powder, a teaspoon of yellow mustard works just as well.
These Bee Sting Chicken Wings are perfect for game day gatherings, casual weeknight dinners, or any occasion where you want to impress with bold, exciting flavors. Serve them hot as a stand-alone star or alongside a cooling dip.
