About this Recipe

Craving a comforting, hearty meal that comes together in a flash? This One Pot Ham & Penne Skillet Recipe is your answer, transforming humble ingredients and leftover ham into a delicious family dinner in just 30 minutes. It's the ultimate weeknight hero, perfect for using up holiday ham or simply enjoying a quick, flavorful pasta dish any time.

What makes this recipe truly special is its one-pot design, which means minimal cleanup and maximum flavor. By cooking the penne noodles directly in a savory blend of chicken broth and 2% milk, they absorb all the rich, herbaceous notes from the dried parsley, basil, oregano, and a hint of red pepper flakes. This technique ensures every bite of pasta is infused with deliciousness, creating a depth of flavor that usually takes hours.

You'll discover a creamy, savory pasta dish, perfectly balanced with the salty depth of cubed ham and the fresh, vibrant pop of thawed frozen peas. The penne absorbs the liquids beautifully, resulting in a luscious sauce that coats every piece without being overly heavy. It's a satisfying, warming experience that feels both indulgent and wonderfully simple, making it a reliable go-to for busy evenings.

Feel free to adapt this One Pot Ham & Penne Skillet to your pantry or preferences. While ham is fantastic, you could easily swap in other cooked proteins like chicken or turkey. For an extra layer of flavor, consider adding a sprinkle of fresh herbs at the end. If you prefer a richer sauce, a splash of heavy cream could be added along with the milk. You can also experiment with other short pasta shapes if penne isn't on hand.

This robust skillet makes a complete meal on its own, ideal for a cozy family dinner or a relaxed gathering with friends. Serve it simply with a side salad to cut through the richness, or some warm, crusty bread to scoop up any delicious leftover sauce.
