About this Recipe

Craving the true taste of Philadelphia without a trip to the City of Brotherly Love? This authentic Philly cheesesteak recipe brings the iconic sandwich right into your kitchen. We’re talking tender, thinly sliced beef, perfectly fried onions, and luscious melted cheese, all nestled in a fresh footlong roll—just as it should be.

What makes this recipe stand out is its commitment to the classic, unadulterated Philly cheesesteak experience. By using partially frozen bottom round roast, you're able to achieve those paper-thin beef shavings essential for that signature melt-in-your-mouth texture. The thoughtful blend of seasonings, including baking soda, vinegar, and sugar, works to tenderize the meat and balance the rich, savory flavors of the beef and sweet onions, elevating every bite.

Prepare for a truly satisfying experience. Each bite delivers wonderfully tender beef, savory fried onions, and gooey provolone cheese that blends seamlessly into a harmonious symphony of flavors and textures. The bread, soft on the inside with a slight chew, perfectly soaks up all the delicious juices. This isn't a complicated gourmet dish; it's pure, comforting, and deeply flavorful, delivering a hearty meal that’s both familiar and incredibly rewarding.

While this recipe champions the classic trio, you can personalize the cheese to your liking. While provolone offers that traditional tang, feel free to experiment with white American cheese for an even creamier, milder melt, or a sharp cheddar if you prefer a bolder flavor. You could also serve this with an optional side of hot peppers or pickles for those who enjoy an extra kick or crunch.

This Philly cheesesteak is perfect for a casual dinner, a lively game day gathering, or simply when you're in the mood for an incredibly satisfying and flavorful sandwich. Serve them fresh and hot, perhaps alongside a simple green salad or a side of crispy fries.
