About this Recipe

Looking for the perfect way to transform that leftover holiday ham into something truly delicious? This classic ham salad recipe is quick, easy, and packed with savory flavor, ready in just 10 minutes.

What makes this ham salad a standout is its vibrant balance of flavors and textures. The richness of finely diced ham and chopped hard-boiled eggs is brightened by zesty lemon juice and dijon mustard. Sweet pickle relish adds a pleasant tang, while crisp celery and bell pepper provide a welcome crunch, ensuring every bite is satisfying.

You can expect a wonderfully creamy and savory experience, with a delightful interplay of textures. The hearty base is perfectly bound by a rich mayonnaise dressing, creating a fulfilling consistency. A subtle sweetness from the relish is balanced by the sharp mustard and fresh herbs, offering a complex yet comforting taste. Depending on your preference, a hint of cayenne pepper adds a gentle warmth that elevates the whole dish, making it perfect for a light lunch or a casual picnic.

This ham salad is incredibly versatile for customization. For a different twist, you could experiment with a dill pickle relish instead of sweet, or adjust the amount of Dijon mustard to your liking for more or less tang. If you prefer less heat, simply omit the pinch of cayenne, or add a little extra for more zing. Feel free to vary the fresh herbs; chives or a little tarragon could also work well if you don't have parsley.

Perfect for a quick meal or a casual picnic, this budget-friendly ham salad shines when served on your favorite bread for a hearty sandwich, as a scoop atop a bed of fresh greens, or with crackers for a delightful appetizer. It's an ideal way to repurpose leftover ham beautifully.
